Brown County 2017

We took our second annual trip to Brown County with the McGriff’s the weekend of October 20th this year and it was amazing, again, just how we had hoped! We rented the same cabin and headed down on a Friday night looking forward to a weekend of togetherness and relaxing!

The first night we had pizza for dinner from Big Woods, gave the kiddos their matching jammies, and lego sets from Megan and Ian and watched them play together for a few hours. The three big kids (Luke, Grace and Eli) set up camp in the basement again this year - but, they were having a much chattier time than last year. They finally all went to bed around 11. Meanwhile, we had been hanging out upstairs, eating, playing games and having some beers (not me). Once the kids were down we headed to the hot tub under the stars and had a great time!

The next day, we had planned to try and go to the Abe Lincoln lodge and swim in the morning, but they were full, so no tickets were available. Impressively, the kids were great going with the flow and we just headed to the Brown County State Park instead after breakfast. What a great morning! We drove to a playground, played with the kids for a couple of hours, took them on some parent led pony rides, and then finished up the morning with some Mexican food for lunch. The four of these kiddos have the best time and it is so fun watching them run, giggle and make memories together!

We did some shopping and had dinner in the village in the afternoon, after a nap and a hike in the woods of course. Then we headed back to the cabin, where the kiddos crashed and we followed not too far after! Sunday we all went to church together and finished off the weekend with some delicious BBQ and a great time at lunch.

We had a great time unplugging, puzzling, cooking and spending time together with our good friends. Looking forward to next year!
