Baby Yar #2 - 31 Weeks
We had our 30 week appointment last week for Baby Number 2. Everything is looking great, but he is measuring two weeks ahead. This is terrifying to me as Luke never measured ahead, and was born at almost 11 pounds. Yikes.
We also found out that instead of being able to be induced at 38 weeks because of suspected macrosomia (big baby) which is what we have thought most of this pregnancy, it is likely that we will have to wait until 39 weeks to be induced because of changes in national indicators for early induction. This also is scary to me because I do NOT want to get into a situation again where there are issues with size and being able to have this baby naturally.
Leaving that appointment was the first time I really feel like it seemed like having to have a c-section was a very viable possibility due to the size of the baby. My doctor has always been very supportive of natural births, but she even seemed nervous about waiting to induce until 39 weeks as we were talking, but her hands are tied in this case. This was a little discouraging for me because I had such a good experience last time, even with the shoulder dystocia. I felt great within a week or so, and the thought of a surgery really scares me! Obviously I want a healthy, safe baby in the end more than anything, the appointment just required me to change how I was thinking! If my blood pressure spikes again, like it did with Luke, then 38 weeks becomes a possibility, but again, I don't want to wish for that!
Below is a picture of me last week, 31 weeks with Baby 2!
This picture was me at 33 weeks with Luke, right before my 5 year reunion at DePauw. Looks pretty similar especially since #2 is measuring ahead!
