Baby Yar #2!

So one slightly important/life changing thing we have had going on now for quite some time is our sweet Baby Yar #2!  How it has been this long before I posted something about this little one is beyond me, so I wanted to make sure to catch up!

When Dave accepted his new job with much less travel in December of last year, we decided that since he would be home (one of my stipulations before having another little one), and we were both feeling ready to take on infant-hood again, that we were ready to start trying for another baby.  We wanted our kids to be close together in age, and with nursing school wrapping up, we thought a due date in the fall/winter would be good timing, in that if I got a job before the baby came that would be great, and if not, it would just be a few months more of just one income.  We were hoping it would happen relatively quickly since it didn't take long with Luke, but this little one happened even faster.

We found out we were expecting on January 11th, 2014 and that the baby was due September 22, 2014.  I was grocery shopping that Saturday morning and thought that it was a little early in the month to see, but I may as well buy a pregnancy test just to check.  I totally knew it was going to be positive for some reason, and even chose not to buy my normal Red Bull shopping companion just in case.  I brought all the groceries in at home and took the test without telling Dave.  When I came out of the bathroom he was watching the IU game, and I told him I had a little surprise.  He asked me if I got new pillows at the store :)  I showed him the positive test and needless to say he was shocked.  I am no longer allowed to take pregnancy tests without warning Dave beforehand.

So after about six weeks with no issues, we shared the news with our families (I was NOT about to pretend drink/be fake not pregnant this time around) so we told early.  Our first appointment was at 8 weeks where we got to hear the heartbeat and see the little guy and were reassured that everything was looking great!

Baby Yar #2 - 15 weeks

We found out at 19 weeks in April that we are having another little boy, and we could not be more excited!  Raising Luke has been such a joy that adding another sweet little boy sounded perfect to us.

The pregnancy has been really great, honestly.  I felt good in the beginning, tired and hungry all the time but nothing out of the ordinary.  Then, minus when I made myself sick by switching prenatal vitamins (note to self:  only take Naturemade, One a Day makes you feel terrible) I was feeling great all the way through the second trimester.  I just did my glucose test a couple of weeks ago at 28 weeks, and actually had to go back in to take the 3 hour test because my glucose levels were elevated at the 1 hour screen.  The final numbers were fine and I was sent home with a warning to watch it on the sweets :)  In my defense, it was a rough month with taking the boards so I had self-medicated with lots of chocolate ice cream.

Anniversary Dinner - 20 weeks

So here we are at 29 weeks and 2 days, with our next appointment on Monday at 30 weeks.  This little guy will likely be induced at 38 weeks due to Luke's size and issues with shoulder dystocia.  We'll do an ultrasound right around 37 weeks to check his size, and probably schedule an induction at that point.  He could look small, but like our Dr. says, we are working with the same genes, so that's probably not likely.  So, we are planning on meeting our little boy in early-ish September!
