Ukie's Words

Luke is a talker.  Like a major talker.  He also calls himself Lukie or Ukie (his friends Shane and Liam call him Lukie, so we have picked it up) which is hilarious.

Right now, he really likes to narrate what he's doing with phrases like "Lukie is running down the sidewalk", "Lukie is running in circles"  or "Lukie better be careful!".  He likes to tell us if he is climbing, swinging, helping, eating, shooting, reading, and really anything else a two year old should or should not be doing.  He also often says "Ukie SELF!" which means LET ME DO IT.  If you happen to assist in an activity that he would like to do himSELF, he will start back from the beginning and repeat whatever it is in order to have done it himself.

He also has been using the phrase "sum bunches" which is my absolute favorite.  As in, he'll pick up a handful of chalk and say "Lukie has sum bunches of chalk!!"

Within the past week or so he has also been using words like yesterday and tomorrow correctly which really kind of blows my mind.  I was cleaning the kitchen table off the other day and he said "That was Grandma's cup yesterday"  as I picked up the cup Jan had used at dinner the night before.  Nuts.

I can't even attempt to count how many words and phrases etc. he knows, but he pretty much speaks in full sentences most of the time, and you better watch what you say because he WILL repeat back perfectly any thing you may let out of your mouth.  I said "aw hell" once under my breath and he repeated it, laughing for a good 15 minutes.  Hilarious.  He also likes to say "silly goose" and "no siree bob"  or "no siree grandma, Dexter, daddy, mommy, etc."

"Be kind" is also a common phrase.  As he has gotten older and in doing my best to discipline him, "kind" is the word I tend to use, and I'm not sure how that came about because I feel like I rarely said it before, but who knows.  So he often says "Lukie be kind to Mommy, daddy, Dexter, Champie, etc."

The kid is the best.  He cracks Dave and I up everyday, and even though right now, he often tries to push the limits and see what he can get away with (talk about challenging our patience) he is such a joy to be around and we are in awe of how much he is learning and changing every day!
